One such company is El Molino Systems. Based between England and Spain they go to admirable lengths to ensure that their customers are never disappointed. The following case study is an example of just how far Bentley Walker and their partners will go to deliver satisfaction. The customers in question were located in Tete, Mozambique which is on the east coast of Africa, not directly accessible from London. This city on the banks of the Zambezi river is surrounded by dense forest, few tourists venture there although it is the capital of the region. It is known to be the hottest city in Mozambique with temperatures regularly soaring to 38 degrees with highs of 46 recorded.

These meteorological issues did not stop El Molino systems from venturing to Tete to install a satellite system. As usual all of the necessary specialist equipment was configured, tested and shipped direct from London accompanied by the technicians. An order had been placed with a local supplier of satellite dishes for an 180cm dish. This independent company did not deliver on their promise claiming they were out of stock. Ever resourceful the technicians flew to Johannesburg (minimum flight time 5 hours) to source a new dish for no extra charge. With the dish in their luggage they travelled back to Tete by road, a journey that took them another four days. El Molino Systems commissioned local tradesmen to make the mounting unit for the satellite dish whilst they found a pipe suitable for use as a mount for the antenna. When the dish was in place and all of the equipment linked up, they used a satellite phone to conduct the CP test and used a Satlook Spectrum Analyser to ensure that the dish was correctly aligned.

The result of their endeavours was that the customers in Tete now have a 24/7 internet connection, 2 Voip phone lines with connecting phones and a VPN connection to the head office in London.

BW Satellite Internet goes mobile with the military in Afghanistan

Bentley Walker have equipped European forces in Afghanistan with mobile Satellite systems to enable rapid deployment of broadband internet in theatre. The mobile internet solution, which has been adopted by one European army's signal core, has been mounted in purpose made carry cases to easily fit in most Army trucks and Aircraft transport. The system, which can locate and track satellites automatically, was provided together with specialise bandwidth management services.

In the two years that the system has been available it has been deployed in numerous parts of the world including Denmark, Germany, Kosovo, Iraq & Afghanistan.

Frequency and symbol rate change on HX W6

As part of ongoing network expansion we will be changing the outroute frequency and symbol rate on the HX W6 Middle East platform at 1400 GMT Mon 21/12/2009

We have been broadcasting the new parameters for the last 4 days so any modem that has been powered on within the last 4 days will have received the new parameters.

If your modem has not been powered on please power up the modem before 1400 UK time on Monday 21 DEC 2009 to ensure you receive and store the new outroute frequencies.

Customers who have not yet installed their modems or agents that will be activating new modems should ensure that the following parameters are changed on the configuration sheet and entered into the modem at time of installation

Symbol rate : 8000000 sps

This change will ensure that the Bentley HX W6 continues to provide a first class broadband connection.

Sesat2 HX service announcement

We have been monitoring system performance across the network in an effort to improve customer experience. It has come to our attention that a number of clients are operating with poorly aligned and polarised antennas. This results in the affected terminals running at lower efficiency and a reduction in performance for the individual.

In order to assist in resolving this issue, we have set up a scheduling tool for end users to complete an alignment and cross polarisation test with our engineers. This test will ensure optimum performance is achieved along with greater stability during adverse weather conditions.

ALL clients with HX services on Sesat2 Afghanistan Spot Beam who have not yet completed the cross polarisation test are strongly advised to do so using our scheduling tool. In order to run the test you will need telephone access whilst at the antenna to communicate with our engineers and the necessary spanners/tools required to loosen the antenna bolts.

Please select the operator if you have a preference and the time/date you wish to schedule the test for, you will then be given a confirmation on screen and via email of the appointment.

Earth Station Antenna Maintenance

Bentley Walker Turbo software upgraded

An upgrade to the Bentley Walker turbo software has been effected to improve performance and to resolve the issue that some clients had of being unable to connect to this utility. If you are still experiencing this problem then please uninstall and then reinstall the client software.

The turbo software is a value added service provided exclusively to Bentley Walker customers at no additional charge. The benefits are an immediate increase in data throughput speeds and each new subscriber will impact positively on the overall network performance.

Dedicated Capacity available now on W3A Africa

Bentley Walker are very pleased to announce the availability of dedicated bandwidth capacity on the W3A satellite; this follows a period of severe shortage so we advise any clients with a requirement to contact us with a view to booking this while it remains available.

This is in addition to the capacity available on our hugely successful HX service on T11N. Clients within this coverage will see up to 49db of signal strength offering increased quality and stability of service when paired with the AIS/ACM present with the HX DVB-S2 service. Testing has shown support for bandwidth of 1Mbps on the return channel for 1.2m remotes and increased resilience to rain fade even during the worst of weather conditions.

HX W6 Middle East - Frequency Change Notification

We would like to inform you that the HUB will be performing a Frequency Change on the HX network, satellite W6 Middle East. This operation will take place today Tuesday 18th of August 2009 starting at 16:30 GMT

This will require all the HX terminals on satellite W6 Middle East to be powered ON. This operation will cause a brief outage that will last no more than 15 minutes. Any terminals not powered on during this time may need to manually change the frequency and symbol rate via the manual commisioning page.
