Excellent Feedback for New HX Telstar 11N Service

To broaden our service provision over the Western, Middle and South of Africa, Bentley Walker recently installed their fifth HX hub on Telstar 11N (footprint/details below). We are happy to announce this service is now commercially available to our customers and agents.

Feedback on the new service has been excellent, as an email we received from one of our major regional agents demonstrates:

Thanks for all your support and efforts. We have installed the file and our HX50 and is now running smooth since yesterday. The modem is locked and the signal is 94%. We have heavy rains since yesterday and the modem is still locked and we are browsing normal. It's just fantastic.
Clients within this coverage will see up to 49db of signal strength offering increased quality and stability of service when paired with the AIS/ACM present with the HX DVB-S2 service. Testing has shown support for bandwidth of 1Mbps on the return channel for 1.2m remotes.

About Telstar 11N

Telstar 11N is located at 37.5 degrees West and utilizes 39 high powered Ku-band transponders to support a wide range of video and data applications in North America, Europe and Africa and across the Atlantic Ocean.

Telstar 11N is the first satellite to provide Ku-band coverage of the Atlantic Ocean from the Arctic Circle to the equator. Commercial and government customers in shipping and aviation are seeking this capability to deploy cost-effective, full time mobile broadband solutions using very small aperture terminals or VSATs. The satellite's African coverage is promoting the implementation of broadband and video services across the continent and enabling a broad range of users to seamlessly connect their African operations with Europe and North America.

Telstar 11N was manufactured by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) and Sea Launch provided mission management with its Land Launch partner, Space International Services Ltd. Telesat's newest satellite uses SS/L's proven 1300 platform, has a solar array span of 31 meters and an expected 15 year mission life.

The HX50 is a high-performance satellite router designed to support high-bandwidth links with Quality of Service (QoS) features such as Min/Max CIR together with dynamic allocation of bandwidth. Bentley Walker have secured a new transponder on our W3A Africa service, available to our clients from next week.

New Transponder Acquired for W3A Africa
Higher capacity available for shared and dedicated Evolution services.

Following from our previous press release announcing the introduction of new dedicated bandwidth, C-band services and new coverage from Telstar 11N for our African clients, we are pleased to confirm the acquisition of a new transponder for our W3A Africa service. This transponder supports the hugely successly iDirect S2 Evolution service, which has brought DVB-S2 with ACM to the iDirect platform for the first time. Clients for both shared and dedicated bandwidth will benefit from the increased capacity this transponder offers.

New Capacity for Dedicated for Africa

Bentley Walker are pleased to announce new capacity for the provision of dedicated bandwidth to our clients in Africa, together with the introduction of C-band services in the coming months and the addition of Telstar 11N to our satellite coverage.

Dedicated bandwidth for Africa has been at a premium due to rising customer demand, so we are pleased to confirm that we have secured a significant volume of dedicated bandwidth available for immediate purchase by Bentley Walker's valued clients. We offer this bandwidth at fantastic rates, but it is subject to availability so clients should place their orders early to avoid disappointment.

In response to overwhelming demand from our customers, we will shortly be introducing new C-band services for our African clients. We are currently working with our partners to establish the best prices possible for this highly competitive market. We expect this service to come online in May 2009.
